George Randolph Odham, affectionately known as George, was a real charmer with a larger than life personality. He was a helper to anyone and everyone, possessing a remarkable ability to fix anything, particularly anything with a motor. George loved his family and his friends passionately and was a wild and crazy guy, who greatly enjoyed his life.
Born on June 4, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents Alvin Richard and Frances Heldreth Odham, George moved with his parents, sister Sandra (Patty), and brother David (Dove) to North Carolina during his growing up years. We often called him Georgie, Georgie Porgie, or Porge.
From a young age, George learned invaluable lessons from his parents—how to figure out anything from his Daddy and about cooking, Faith, and God's love from his Mom.
With his crystal clear blue eyes, just like his Daddy's, George had a unique ability to draw people in with his quick smile and unforgettable laugh.
A natural helper, George's kindness left a significant impact on countless lives. While serving in the US Army, his Dad passed away suddenly and George sent his military pay to his Mom to help her. When his sister, Patty, and brother, Dove, had difficulties, George was there to help them. George's family knew they could always count on George.
George and his brother Dove restored Kimberlin, a historic church in Virginia and the Heldreth family Church, so the extended Heldreth family could hold a Christian service. George's unwavering support extended to his many friends, who loved him in return.
George loved his wife Brenda, celebrating their 29th anniversary in May. Together, they enjoyed many special moments on their farm in Indiana, on their houseboat, and at their winter home in Florida.
George loved his two sons, Tony and David, along with his stepchildren Annie, Ben, and Jeff, whom he considered his own.
George served our country proudly in the US Army, stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam War and in locations throughout the United States.
After his military service, George became a professional long-distance truck driver. His commitment to excellence led to the remarkable achievement of a Four Million Mile Safe Driving Award, a testament to his skill, professionalism and dedication after decades on the road without an accident.
George truly lived a remarkable life, giving dedicated service to our country, achieving extraordinary accomplishments, enjoying wonderful adventures, and touching the lives of many family and friends.
On May 27, 2026, God peacefully called George home to be eternally in God's care. Daddy, Mom, and Dove welcomed George with open loving arms, and Georgie ran joyfully into their embrace.
Surviving to honor George's memory are his wife Brenda, sister Patty, her husband Bill, and George's children Tony, David, Annie, Ben, and Jeff, along with his grandchildren, great-grandchild, and his brother Dove's daughters, Tricia (Tater) and Dana.
Thank You, Dear God, for George Odham's life, and thank You for allowing all of us to be part of his life. Amen and Amen.
Family and friends will gather in Indiana for a Christian service to celebrate George Odham's life and to honor his service to our country with military honors.
